Explanation of the Post
It has always been believed that giving kisses and hugs fixes everything. This idea, which is very widespread in education, leads to the belief that anyone can touch us or invade our space, making it difficult to say no.
Schools continue to work on emotional education, often without taking into account the evidence, carrying out activities in the classroom that require physical contact without consent, such as relaxation or massages… They even urge you to kiss someone you have hurt, and program activities that limit the freedom to decide what that person wants, due to the power relationship that exists between students and teachers (institutional power). Applying programs of this type implies not following the indications that the evidence says about consent.
For all these reasons, it is necessary that emotional education programs take into account the evidence on consent to prevent sexual abuse in childhood.
