In the schools and academic forums when talking about universal suffrage in the history of Spain, and specifically about womens’ voting rights Victoria Kent it’s presented as one of the women who fought for this. In reality, it was another woman who fought for the rights of all women when Victoria Kent defended that only a few qualified women could vote.

Victoria Kent sí que defendía el derecho a voto de las mujeres, pero solicitaba a las Cortes un tiempo para poder preparar a las mujeres al voto ya que consideraba que sin dicha preparación lo que podría llegar a ocurrir, teniendo en cuenta el contexto de España a principios de siglo XIX, es que las mujeres votasen desde la ignorancia o bajo las órdenes de los hombres. Victoria Kent no se dejó llevar por la demagogia sufragista, sabe que no se trata solamente de que las mujeres votemos, sino de que no lleguemos hasta este campo tremendo del sufragio universal a duplicar el horror del voto masculino analfabeto (Mistral, 2009.)
