Explanation of the Post

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a social problem manifested in all social contexts. The negative health outcomes of CSA in multiple developmental spheres have been widely reported and evidence the urgent need for effective interventions worldwide. Recent analyses (NESET Report, 2023) clarify which interventions and programs are effective in eliminating and preventing CSA and which ones claim to do so but have not yielded evidence of social impact.

    COMMENT:

From the University of Barcelona we asked ourselves the following hypothesis: is sex education really taught in schools?

Therefore, we have conducted a research to check whether the results of our hypothesis were true or not. Thanks to this research, as students, we have become aware that sex education in schools is a very important issue. However, as professionals we still have a long way to go, since the key to offering quality education is training and constant training. In addition, we have been able to see that most teachers are involved in this issue, but have not received any training on it and, in the long term, this could be a major social problem.

Therefore, we conclude that currently this issue is not being worked on in all schools, but we must continue to fight so that in the not too distant future this will be the case. And finally, we would like to emphasize the importance of dealing with the issue of sex education taking into account the context in which we live (culture, religion, country…) and updating it, as society is changing.
