Semi-plenary sessions (scientific field)
Every day there will be two parallel sessions on the scientific field of the day (i.e. Physics and Mathematics, etc.). One session will be on some scientific advancements in that field. The other on a success story from research with social impact within that field. These sessions will be organized by organizing committee.
Semi-plenary sessions (societal challenges)
Every day there will be two parallel sessions on research targeting societal challenges organized by organizing committee. These challenges will be approached through an interdisciplinary perspective. The challenges are:
- Economic growth
- Eradicate hunger, poverty, exclusion
- Gender equality
- Peace, social justice
- Sustained infrastructure and industrialization
- Global partnership for development
- Sustainable water management
- Environmental sustainability
- Combat diseases
- Education for all
Paper sessions and symposiums
These will be sessions presenting individual papers and thematic symposiums. These sessions will be organized in relation to either the scientific field of the day or a particular societal challenge.
Midday special sessions
These will be shorter sessions with one specific topic of interest for researchers. Five midday specials have been organized on:
- The role of publishers in promoting social impact
- The role of funding agencies in promoting social impact
- The role of universities in promoting social impact
- The role of open access in promoting social impact
- The role of scientific societies in promoting social impact
Brown bag seminars
Every day at lunch time there will be several seminars in which presenters can discuss about social impact of science in a more informal environment over lunch. Some of them will take place in seminar rooms and some other in open-air corner format in the university gardens. Brown bag seminars will be one hour long, and lunch boxes or any other food or drink will be allowed.
